More about Avenue Chiropractic Clinic

Dr Dennis Grant (Doctor of Chiropractic) has over twenty years of experience as a Chiropractor treating many patients presenting a wide variety of painful conditons including those mentioned above.

Based in Kingston Upon Hull, East Yorkshire, Dr Dennis Grant’s practice is conveniently centrally located at the junction of Spring Bank West and Princes Avenue and is easily accessible by bus, by car and on foot with easy parking options available in the locality.

Dr Dennis Grant is a registered member of the British Chiropractic Association and the General Chiropractic Council.

Dr Dennis Grant first started treating patients from Hull and the surrounding areas in 1989. In that time he has presented many talks to General Practitioners lectures at the Hull Royal Infirmary as well as appearing on BBC Radio Humberside.
Range of patients treated by Dr Grant include professionals in the following fields:
•Rugby League and Rugby Union players
•Actors from film/T.V./theatre
Most importantly the majority of the patients come from normal walks of life.
Like many chiropractors, Dr Grant’s first experience of chiropractic was as a patient! In his 20’s Dennis suffered repeat episodes of disabling back pain and sciatica. At the time his career involved daily sports activity and he was advised to stop all sporting activity permanently. Eventually he went to see a chiropractor and as a result was not only able to continue with his career but has subsequently completed many marathons!
Many former patients will know Dennis left Hull to live in Italy for 5 years up until 2008. This was a great experience living high up in the mountains (slightly different to Hull!). In his small country clinic the afternoon sessions were always interesting as many of the Italians liked a little wine with their lunch!
In 2009 Dennis opened the Avenue Chiropractic Clinic on the corner of Princes Avenue and Spring Bank West.

Initial Consultation.
The first visit generally takes up to an hour, and includes a consultation, a physical examination, a verbal report of findings and if appropriate, the first treatment.

Firstly a detailed case history is taken regarding any symptom you may present with on that day, but also previous episodes of pain, lifestyle factors and previous medical history.

A physical examination is then given, checking the movement of your spine and joints and your general posture. Orthopaedic and neurological tests will also be used to help the chiropractor make a diagnosis and decide the best treatment plan.

Treatment will vary depending on your specific needs usually involving specific manipulation by hand to restore correct function, mobility or alignment.

Your chiropractor may use other techniques including soft tissue work or stretching techniques.

Duration of subsequent visits varies depending on the individual's problem.

The time for recovery varies depending on - your age, the problem, the length of time you have had it, your profession, your lifestyle, any other underlying conditions and your own commitment to any advice the chiropractor may recommend.

Many patients opt for maintenance care once they feel better. The aim is to maintain good function of the spine and try to prevent a recurrance of a spinal-related problem. Again, the frequency of your maintenance visits will depend on several factors, but most patients come back once a month to once every few months.

The treatment will be individually tailored to each patient’s needs.
Most treatment programmes involve:

•Adjustments and mobilisation of the spine
•Soft tissue work on muscles
•Advice on exercise/daily activities/diet
Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or use surgical procedures. If chiropractic treatment is not considered appropriate, you will be referred to your General Practitioner or to a specialist for further investigations.

The clinic will make every effort to provide same day appointments for emergencies on the above days.

*Please note: a fee of £10.00 will be payable on unfulfilled appointments or cancellations unless a minimum of 24 hours notice is given.

BUPA, AXA PPP and most major health insurers cover treatment with a registered chiropractor (check with your insurer before commencing treatment).
